Africa’s Cities
Opening Doors to the World

CONCEPT | DESIGN | PRODUCTION

We worked with The World Bank Group to design a flagship report highlighting the urban growth crisis and presenting the case for change. Our ‘Opening Door’ concept depicts the morning sun lighting an African map made from connected vector points. It represents the report’s vision: a more connected Africa, with improved infrastructure can better support its rapidly growing urban population by becoming more competitive and looking outwards to access global markets. Focussing on key matters like connection, planning and infastructure the report makes a critical study of selected African cities and outlines the way forward.

The human element

The current cycle of low expectation of African cities impacts the next generation. Our design focusses on the human impact.

“Africa has been urbanising rapidly with 450 million new urban dwellers expected in African cities by 2040.”
