2011 – a tricky year for staff retention in a climate of change
In the current climate of corporate restructures and M&As there are no big surprises in
The Employee Engagement Report 2011 from BlessingWhite Research.
Some key findings:
• 31% are Engaged, and 17% are Disengaged.
• More employees are looking for new opportunities outside their organization than in 2008.
• Trust in executives appears to have more than twice the impact on engagement levels than trust in immediate managers does.
When I read that “engagement surveys without visible follow-up action may actually decrease engagement levels”, I’m reminded of what I read in a recent World Bank blog on The 2010 Climate Conference in Cancun which set about the global goal of climate protection synergistically with local agendas of sustainable development.
Simply creating a greater synergy between ‘global’ and ‘local’ creates better results.
There is clear path to successful staff engagement in the changing climate of the corporate world too, if executive and staff management get some synergy.
That’s how we approach internal communications at Zephyr – we create synergies, showing how corporate policy translates into day-to-day actions.
